Our situated practices and activities focus on collaborative knowledge generation and exchange approaches within the locality and beyond. We aim to challenge what art, design and spatial practices can be and do for a wide range of audiences, including researchers, artists, architects, design thinkers, social activists, practicians and the local communities of Saint-Gilles. MissionThe Green Corridor places peer-to-peer dialogue and collective-knowing-by-doing at the heart of its approach. It aims to trigger the constitution of a collaborative cultural programme that creates possibilities for exploration and community-making through situated practices. Programme Our activities focus on collaborative, process-driven approaches and practices for knowledge generation. Instead of thematising topics of contemporary interest, we understand cultural programming as the crossing and friction of diverse creative and knowledge conditions, enabling spaces for collective imagination to emerge. In this spirit, a monthly residency format is organised with the intention to overlap knowledge and practices. ResidencyThe monthly residents – researchers, artists, designers, architects, curators, writers, social activists etc. – can become part of a transient community: exchanging, conversing and learning in a supportive and research-intensive atmosphere. We create situations where people, objects, materials and discourses converge through diverse curatorial gestures, including public discussions, screenings, exhibitions, research processes, performances, books and publication launches. LocationThe Green Corridor invites residents to draw from the situatedness at 102&nbsp;Rue de Bosnie&nbsp;in Saint-Gilles, Brussels. A contextual, vibrant, urban condition informed by locals with Portuguese, Brazilian, Spanish, Moroccan, Latin American, Belgian and Polish roots living together in Brussels. This relational and interconnected reality intends to be the basis for our activities, informing our engagement with diverse local and global temporalities. The work is about a distance to history and a sense of placelessness. At the same time, it is about a hidden femininity that speaks to trans-femininity. Mar* Szydłowska is an artist and choreographer working between Brussels and Vienna. Their artistic research focuses on the politics of perception, working across opacity and peripheral phenomena in architectural spaces and institutional environments. Ranging across performance, installation, and film, their practice seeks to mediate between the invisible affect and its embodied spatial contexts. An engineer architect, and visual artist, she researches alternative ways of exploring and representing architectural places. Focussing on different media, she looks for ways to approach places actively. The act of experience, of really being at a particular place and discovering - through the presence of your whole body - what lives at that specific place, is essential for her work. “Drawing has a featherlike quality. Sometimes you think of something, and it is so light, so slight, that you don’t have time to make a note in your diary. Everything is fl eeting, but your drawing will serve as a reminder; otherwise, it is forgotten.” Louise Bourgeois A quote that came up in a conversation between Jolien Naeyaert and Michelle Sáenz Burrola. Jolien Naeyaert researches alternative ways of exploring and representing architectural places. Focussing on different media, she looks for ways to actively approach places. In 2015 she built up her own' research centre' in a caravan and decided to wander around Belgium, questioning the notion of 'landscape'. This practice has evolved increasingly into a practice of dialogue, intimacy and process-based working. From December 2015 to May 2022, Jolien Naeyaert worked at Robbrecht en Daem architecten in Ghent. In 2018, she started writing articles for Belgian architecture magazine A-plus, and in 2020 she began teaching at the Faculty of Architecture, Sint Lucas Brussels. Together with cineast/architect Anne Philippe, she founded the collective 'desespiegles'. to hear it, does it make any sound?" (Brussels 2022) According to Suzanne Simard, trees are corporeality, time, place, and shelter. They perceive each other, learn and adapt their behaviours, recognize their neighbours and remember the past. Within the residence framework, my body, like a tree, adapts to the space and creates a series of small projects, like minor ramifications, starting from a central piece called 'Dendrochronology'. A large branch carries with it the testimony, the circular trace of time, my personal and physical process that began a year and a half ago when I picked up this large branch to start 'Never its trunk straightens'. In that way, sketching during the design process is a way of improvising. Because how can you draw what you don’t know yet? How can you write what you cannot yet put into words? How can you move differently than before?” (translated quote from Dutch text: ‘Ontwerpen van binnenuit’, Jolien Naeyaert, 2018, A+27 Representation). An engineer architect, and visual artist, Jolien Naeyaert researches alternative ways of exploring and representing architectural places. Focusing on different media, she looks for ways to approach places actively. The act of experience, of really being at a particular place and discovering - through the presence ofyour whole body - what lives at that specific place, is essential for her work. Currently, she lives in Brussels and has a studio at Level Five Brussels. Breg and Esteban drew from the short story ‘The Library of Babel’ by Jorge Luis Borges and interrogated how architecture can become an archive without imposing itself as a building and presented a sound-based piece as successive translations of the text, speculating on how it cracks and finds parallels between buildings, temporalities and discourses.The soundscape contains contribution of Stephen Lawson, Natasa Asik, Hadrien Loumaye, Pichaya Paupoomcharoen, Esteban Donoso, Islandia Glamtzin, Bayardo, Christian Masbanda, Breg Horemans, Catalina Donoso, Elena Colli, Ana Maria Gomez and Sofia Calderon. On 19 November, The Green Corridor Brussels hosted Breg Horemans and KunstenplatformB. Together they organised ‘The Rural and the Other’ seminar, consisting of a lecture by Breg and various thinking and doing exercises, ending with a parcours in Anderlecht. Breg Horemans (*1985) has graduated in 2008 as Master in Architecture (LUCA Arts, Gent, BE) and completed his postgraduate in Curating (ZHdK, Zürich, CH) in 2017. He worked between 2009 and 2012 at Wiel Arets Architects in Maastricht on several projects and competitions. Since 2011 he started collaborations with theatre makers and artists, resulting in performance spaces and exhibitions (Villa Romana, Florence; NAK, Aachen; Black Box Theatre, Oslo; Brakke Grond, Amsterdam). From 2012 Breg works as an architect, installation artist and curator. He is also co-founder of the TAAT collective together with theatre maker Gert-Jan Stam (2012), producing and presenting installations in an offline open source proces. Esteban Donoso (Ecuador) holds a BA in Clinical Psychology and an MFA in Dance from University of Illinois (U.S.) where he worked with choreographers such as Tere O’Connor and Jennifer Monson. In 2007 he attended Impulstanz in Vienna as a part of the danceWeb Europe Programme. He later moved back to Ecuador where he has taught and produced his own work individually and collaboratively. In 2014 he collaborated with Fabián Barba for the creation of the installation-performance cultivo de babosas / slugs’ garden, which will be performed at kunstenfestivaldesarts this year. In 2015 he moved to Belgium to start an artistic research program at a.pass. In the fall 2017 he started a PhD in Performance Studies at York University in Toronto, Ca.
